And so I start again....a new blog...a new adventure...a new and improved "me". I've committed to working on improving my health (mental as well as physical) for the next 12 weeks. I was going to be joining a "team" of people to move more and eat better, but that fell through for various reasons, so I decided I'm going to do this on my own, with my own support team of family and friends, and just blog about it. You, dear reader, are my accountability team. You are nameless and faceless thus far, but somehow that makes it easier for me to be accountable. (More about my ideosyncracies will be revealed over the next 12 weeks.) lolOkay, so just to put a bit of this in context for you. I'll be 55 in June this year. I've been morbidly obese most of my life, but hit the top of my scale in 2016 at 288 pounds (I'm only 5'3"). This year I have to change my lifestyle if I want to live to be in my 90s like all of my grandmothers down the line. I've put on 100 pounds in the past 20 years, so like 5 pounds a year, (and 60 of those have been in the past 6 years) and while I'm not into major health problems, I want to avoid that. So, the change has to be now.
I'm not dieting. I am changing my relationship with food and with movement. I'm starting with baby steps (more on the movement side than the food side). Unlike some, I love exercise and almost all types of food, but it's the preparation of food and the starting of the exercise that I absolutely SUCK at! So, for now I am focusing on the next 12 weeks and improving that. Also, for the first time in a LOT of years, I actually feel like I can feel myself at a better weight again...with more energy, and fewer aches and pains.
So, I hope you'll join me now and again. I can't promise hilarity or aha moments or much drama (gave that up for the most part awhile ago), but I do promise honest to goodness truth and I'll share the journey with you...what works...what doesn't, including recipes and movement stuff.
